The 2023 Global Music Education Violin Competition was held in Beijing from November 3 to 13. The Competition was divided into five rounds: a Prescreening Round, a Preliminary Round, a Semifinal Round, a Finals Round– I and a Finals Round- II. In the preliminary round, the jury selected 12 violinists with the highest scores to advance to the semifinal round, and then 6 to the finals round-I, and 3 to the finals round-II. The gold, silver and jade medal winners were voted on by the jury.

Voting and Scoring Rules of the Preliminary, Semifinal and Finals Round–I:

  • Each round has a minimum score, and increases with the unit of half of a point till the maximum score. The minimum and maximum scores are 85 and 95 for the preliminary round, 89.5 and 95 for the semifinal round, 95.5 and 98 for the finals round-I.
  • Of all the scores received by each competitor, the highest and lowest scores are not calculated, and the average of the remaining scores is the final score of the competitor.
  • The juror cannot give repeated score in a single round. 
  • The scores throughout the competition are not cumulative,
  • If there is a tie which results in excessive promoted competitors than the required quota of a certain round, Jury Chairman will decide the final promoted violinist(s).
  • If Teacher-and-Student Relationship exist between certain jurors and competitors, the juror shall not give score to his/her student competitor.

* Teacher-and-Student Relationship refers to the fact that the juror is or was the main or the only teacher of the competitor currently or in a certain period of time.
