On the evening of November 11, 2023, the Finals Round – I of the Global Music Education League Violin Competition was successfully completed in the Concert Hall of China Conservatory of Music. After the wonderful competition among six competitors, the jury finally selected three competitors for Finals Round – II. 

The violinists advanced to Finals Round – II are:

At the same time, Angela Sin Ying CHAN, SooBeen LEE and Risa HOKAMURA were awarded the Finalist Certificate of the Global Music Education League Violin Competition.

On November 13th, the Global Music Education League Violin Competition will be held at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA). Together with the Philadelphia Orchestra, renowned conductor TRISTAN RAIS-SHERMAN will present three classical pieces, “P. I. Tchaikovsky - Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35” “J. Sibelius - Violin Concerto in D minor, Op.47” “J. Brahms - Violin Concerto in D major, Op.77” with the three competitors.

In the Finals Round – I, well-known Chinese conductor Xiaotang XIA conducted the China Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and collaborated with advanced competitors to stage concerts of Mozart's violin concertos.

The final concert opened with the piece "W.A. Mozart - Violin Concerto No.4 in D major, K.V.218" by Angela, Hong Kong, China. In the performance, the beauty of the pure and noble soul of the composer Mozart is revealed.

The next piece was "W.A. Mozart - Violin Concerto No.4 in D major, K.V.218" by Chinese competitor Chaowen Luo. The cheerful and soothing melody is combined with the dense and compact rhythm of the orchestra to achieve a strong acoustic effect.

"W.A. Mozart - Violin Concerto No.3 in G major, K.V.216" performed by the United States competitor Elli CHOI, is an elegant and lyrical work with a dancing flavor. The whole piece is accompanied by a beautiful and warm melody.

Next, the performance of "W.A. Mozart - Violin Concerto No.4 in D major, K.V.218" by South Korean competitor SooBeen LEE is a well-known classical masterpiece, showing a unique artistic aesthetic height in the progressive musical mood.

The piece "W.A. Mozart - Violin Concerto No.5 in A major K.V.219" performed by Joshua BROWN of the United States, is an elegant, clear, passionate and vibrant piece of music. Under the interpretation of the contestants, the spiritual core of the work is perfectly presented.

Finally, Japan's Risa HOKAMURA's interpretation of "W.A. Mozart - Violin Concerto No.4 in D major, K.V.218" showed gorgeous virtuosity and excellent emotional grasp. The exciting performance of the violinist pushed the concert to a climax.

After the competition, the Chairman of the Jury, Prof. Bin Huang announced the three Medalists, and the President of the Competition, Liguang WANG granted Finalist Certificate to the three finalists who also had brilliant performances.

On November 13th, the Finals Round – II of the GMEL Violin Competition will be staged at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA). The gold, silver and jade medalists of the 2023 Competition will be crowned.
