Xia Xiaotang, renowned Chinese conductor, currently serves as Principal Conductor and Vice President of the China Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO), Professor of the Conducting Department of the China Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM), and Chief Conductor of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYPO). At the age of 16, Xia Xiaotang started to learn orchestral conducting with renowned conductor Prof. Yu Feng. Upon graduation from the CCOM in 2005, Xia became the youngest main course lecturer at this institution and took the role of Chief Conductor of the CYPO in the same year. Xia Xiaotang was awarded the Gold Medal in the China International Conducting Competition in 2006 and had been conducting the CPO since 2007. Xia has cooperated with many orchestras from both China and abroad including the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, the China National Symphony Orchestra, China NCPA Orchestra, the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, the Besançon Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, the Xi'an Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Opera Orchestra, The Cadaqués Orchestra (Spain), the Seoul Conservatory Orchestra (South Korea), the American Symphony Orchestra (USA), the San Francisco Baroque Orchestra, the China National Opera House, the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, the National Ballet of China, the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra, the Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra, etc.

Xia Xiaotang has collaborated with many famous performers and composers from home and abroad, including Tan Dun, Ye Xiaogang, Penderecki, Zhao Jiping, Zhao Lin, Jian Wang, Lang Lang, Alexander Kobrin, David Geringas, Sun Xiuwei, Qin Liwei, Alain Lefèvre, Xavier de Maistre, Akiko Suwanai, Ning Feng, Wang Yujia, Yin Chengzong, David Fray, Khatia Buniatishvili, Nelson Freire, Anne-Akiko Meyers, Emmanuel Pahud, Xue Wei, Lu Siqing, Chen Sa, Alexandra Conunova, Guo Wenjing, Chen Qigang, Tang Jianping, Xu Peidong, etc.
